Conor and
Jack were the two characters that were attacked by Matt when he took revenge
against the original villains from the first Mugging that you’ll see on our
blog. We wanted to keep the characters the same so there was a continuity
effect and it became a sequel to the first Mugging film. We thought it was
important to do this as it means that there would be no confusion when we did
the sequel and the viewers would be able to distinguish the different characters
and make sense of why Matt took revenge.
Jack had the
roles of making the actors contract, which was important to have so that
everybody was clear about the amount of hours they were working, for how long
and with a fixed wage as well. Obviously, this would only be done for
professional actors and actresses but we thought that it was necessary for us
to do it to try and include as much as we possibly can for our blog.
Here is a
table with the roles that were assigned to every member of the group:
Job Title

Person responsible

Research

Reasons
|
Responsibilities
|
Director
|
Jack, Conor, Matt and Eliot
|
The director is the person/people that
direct the whole film
|
We decided that together, we’d direct
our film as having 4 minds working together and having input into what should
happen in the film was better than one.
|
Putting our plan that was on paper
into moving images incorporating the use of sound as well. It is important
that what we want is put onto film so being precise with our ideas is key.
|
Editor
|
Eliot
|
The editor puts all the shots together
after all the filming has been to make it as good as possible
|
Eliot has experience with editing so
it was obvious to have him being the editor. Furthermore, he is good at what
he does so it would be silly to not him as our editor
|
They must edit the film as much as needed
until it meets the director’s vision. They must also manipulate the film using
camera effects, dialogue and sound until the finished product has been made.
|
Producer
|
Matt
|
Film producers manage and supervise
the film until it is ready to be presented
|
We chose Matt to be the producer as he
is very organised and he has a clear understanding of the film and what needs
to be done/supervised.
|
Producers need to be able to select
and bring team members together in order to create the best possible film.
They will also work alongside the directors to make sure that everything runs
smoothly.
|
Costumes
|
Jack
|
This person decides what the
characters in the film will be wearing when filming.
|
We decided to choose Jack as he has a
great understanding of how to portray emotions through to the audience
looking at what the characters are wearing
|
The costume designer needs to be able
to pick clothes for each character and give a valid reason why to portray
individual characters to the audience
|
Locations
|
Jack
|
This person decides where different
scenes will be filmed
|
We chose Jack as he’s lived in the
area for the longest which meant that we had a variety of locations to choose
from before filming
|
He must choose the locations and
discuss them with the director to make sure that they are both agreed. He
must also have the locations planned and have a justified reason as to why
filming must take place in a particular location.
|
Continuity
|
Conor
|
A continuity editor makes sure that
the locations, props and clothes are all the same throughout the filming of
different shots so that the audience is not confused when they watch the film
|
We decided that Conor should be the
continuity editor as he has a good eye for errors in films as he also knows
the role better than all of us
|
He must visual memorise, take notes,
or take pictures of the locations/characters or props to ensure that
everything is the same
|
Director of photography
|
Eliot
|
Is responsible for the lighting on a
film to make sure that the picture is clear and it represents exactly what
the director wants
|
We decided that Eliot should take this
role as again, he has experience with doing jobs like this for himself. He
also has a good understanding of the light needed in certain situations to
change the mood of characters in a film
|
He must talk to the director about
each individual scene to make sure that they both understand each other’s
needs. He must also be at the studio before everybody else to ensure everything
is set up and ready for the day ahead
|
Sound/Music
|
Matt
|
He is responsible for the sound/music that is played over the top of
the film to add effect. The effect in our case would be suspense. He’s also
responsible for recording what the characters say while filming
|
We thought that Matt should take this role as he is good at
understanding different situations in films and how sound can influence the
characters in the film and how it plays on the audience with their emotions
|
The sound man should be ready before everybody else gets to the
studio to set up and check that everything is working.
|
Camera Operator
Co Camera Operator
|
Eliot
Conor
|
He is responsible for filming each scene and maintaining camera
angles throughout different scenes to avoid the shaking of the camera and to
ensure a great picture quality
|
Once again, Eliot has a great experience with cameras and filming so
with his expertise knowledge and professionalism, we thought he would be the
right person for the job
|
The camera operator needs to have all their own equipment fully
working before filming. Furthermore, everything that is shot needs to be
backed up and stored so that nothing is lost.
