Location Plan and Safety Hazards

Hi!

Doing this task as a group we came across many hurdles to complete our final film. We had to re-shoot scenes after watching them back, having to change location of the bedroom scene to accommodate with uncontrollable circumstances.

This is the first scene where we filmed, which was Matt’s house. We used all types of shots and angles in this scene. Using every part of Matt’s room to create a new angle.

This picture shows Matt’s Room and everything we used.

This is Matt’s window where we shot him opening and looking out of the window.

This is the wardrobe and mirror in which Matt gets changed and ready.

The desk where Matt plans his ambush and tracks using his laptop.

Finally we have his bed where Matt awakes and the movie starts.

Possible safety hazards or issues and how we would overcome them:

1). TV: This is the first possible risk when filming. As there is a TV in the room this is a possible safety hazard as when filming someone might not know it’s there, walk into it and cause serious injury to themselves. To avoid this happening we would film away from this and make sure nothing touches or knocks it so it would fall over.

2). Desk Corner- The second would be the desk corners as they are sharp and could cause serious damage to someone if they catch themselves. When filming especially we wouldn’t be think about this hazard or the TV as we all will have our full attention on the filming. Therefore to manage this risk we again will be careful when doing near this edges and will take precautions when around it.
So, as you can see I have written about all 4 locations. I have then written about the hazards and things that could go wrong, also suggesting how we will solve the possibilities. I have then done the same for the other 3 locations:

Location 2:

This was our second Location. This is where we had to film some of the bedroom scene as Matt’s room wasn’t available and we had to change some of the angles and shots of the scene when over viewing the first filming.

Because we had to change the gun scene where Matt pulls out the gun, we had to use Jack’s draw instead of the original.

Possible safety hazards or issues and how we would overcome them:

1). Desk Corner- Again the first risk in this room would be the desk corners as they are sharp and could cause serious damage to someone if they catch themselves. When filming especially we wouldn’t be think about this hazard as we all will have our full attention on the filming. Therefore to manage this risk we again will be careful when doing near this edges and will take precautions when around it.

2). Shelving- The second risk and possible hazard in this location would be this shelves. This if knocked could fall, with everything on it. Potentially having very high risks. Not only is the shelves are a risk but also everything on it. Therefore, to manage this risk, we as a team again have to be careful around it. Staying professional about it all and not mucking around to cause any reason for this to be a risk to any of us.

Location 3: This is our third location in which we used called Maids Moreton:

This is where the two muggers are walking to their usual place of meeting with suppliers. Matt watches them from a CCTV camera and them going down this road which leads to an estate.

Possible safety hazards or issues and how we would overcome them:

1). The Dark- Because the scene was filmed in the dark and at night, this would be dangerous as we wouldn’t be able to see as there is no street lap or visible light. This means our vison wouldn’t have be very clear making it difficult to see where we were talking. Because of this once of us could of tripped over a branch on the path or fallen over.  We would overcome this by filming with touches, making sure the area was clear and give some visible light for those on filming, therefore they could see where they were going and no injuries would occur.

2). Flooding- The second possible hazard of filming here was that this path is prone to flooding, with a river running next to it this would mean filming at wintertime the sight could get flooding and therefore we wouldn’t be able to use it. To overcome this we would have to film in the spring time where it is less likely to flood. Also by checking the weather forecast a week in hand so we have a rough idea on what the weather could be like when filming,

3). Branches and Objects on the path- Because the lack of light available down this path, branches and lose objects on the path could be potential hazards if not seen. Someone when filming could not see the object on the floor as they would be looking ahead and staying in character and trip over the object, potentially hurting themselves in the process. We would solve this by doing an area check before filming to clear anything that could be a potential danger to our actors.

4). Rain- The final hazard isn’t really a hazard. This is more of something that could ruin the filming. We coming up with the story we didn’t want it to be raining in the scenes. Also if it did rain the paths would become wet and slipper and the mud would also become dangerous and make it prone to slip on it. Also being in England there is a high possibility that it would rain. To overcome this we would again check the weather forecast so we wouldn’t have any problems. However if it did rain we would reshoot the scene in another location on another day.

Location 4: This was our fourth and final location in which we filmed in:

This is where we do the tracking shot of Matt feet and following the two muggers Jack and Conor.

This is where the ending scene took place. This was where Alex jumped and makes his attack.
This last picture shows the window we used to shoot the sun set and showing the passing of time between Matt getting ready and the time of the attack.

Possible safety hazards or issues and how we would overcome them:
1). The Dark - Again because the scene was filmed in the dark and at night, this would be dangerous as we wouldn’t be able to see as there is no street lap or visible light. This means our vision wouldn’t be very clear making it difficult to see where we were walking. Because of this one of us could of tripped over a branch on the path or fallen over.  We would overcome this by filming with torches, making sure the area was clear and give some visible light for those on filming, therefore they could see where they were going and no injuries would occur.

2). Neighbours and Cars - Because we are filming in an estate there will be people. This isn’t so much of a safety hazard but more of an issue. We wouldn’t want anyone in the shot when filming and as we are in a highly populated area of Buckingham there will be people around like going down town or walking their dogs. However people in their cars isn’t just an issue but of course a risk to us. Them not seeing us as it is dark can be a dangerous matter. Therefore to overcome this would have to film at the exact time and right time so there is no disturbance of noise or people when filming nor have any cars nearby and if there was we would stop filming immediately.

3). Rain- Again this is more of an issue. When we came up with the story we didn’t want it to be raining in the scenes. Also if it did rain the paths would become wet and slippery and the mud would also become dangerous and make it prone to slip on it. Also being in England there is a high possibility that it would rain. To overcome this we would again check the weather forecast so we wouldn’t have any problems. However if it did rain we would reshoot the scene in another location or on another day.

4). Observers - The final thing is an issue. This would be because people watching would see a teenager attacking two with a gun. Therefore we would have to be careful who sees and make sure they don’t get the wrong idea.

See you soon!
